Saginaw Neurosurgeon Gerald R. Schell named prestigious Spirit of St. Vincent Award Recipient

St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation is pleased to announce Saginaw Neurosurgeon Gerald R. Schell, M.D.  and the late family practice physician James T. Keyes as the 2011 recipients of the Spirit of St. Vincent Award. The Spirit of St. Vincent Award is presented annually to at least one highly respected physician who has rendered long and noteworthy service to the Saginaw community and surrounding counties.

The doctors will be honored at St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation’s 17<sup>th</sup> Annual Cornette Ball scheduled for 6 p.m. on November 19, 2011 at Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw.

St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation’s Cornette Ball is one of the grandest black-tie galas in the Great Lakes Bay region. The festive evening includes a cocktail hour, a magnificent five-course gourmet meal, and live music by Detroit’s<i>Skyline and the Back Street Horns</i>. This year, guests will also have the opportunity to win a luxury vacation package for two valued over $5,000.

Since 1995, proceeds from the Cornette Ball have enabled the hospital to continue delivering the healing edge. The annual event raises funds toward the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment, advanced training of professionals, renovations and innovative programs.

Proceeds from this year’s event will support St. Mary’s of Michigan’s comprehensive lung cancer program.
